Just got our Beneteau first 41s5 and I just happen to forget how to lower the chain. The button only raises it and i'm just wondering too if you can change the direction or if thats even possible. Totally forgot it's model. Any advice?

If your windlass only raises, check for a second button or foot switch, some have two. If not, you may need to reverse the wiring or upgrade controls

Appreciate that, really helpful! I'll check for a second switch on my buddy's windlass and give the wiring a look too

If there really is just one control, it might be wired for up only, or the down relay could be dead, most windlasses support both directions, so yeah, it is possible to fix or rewire it to go both ways if needed. Worst case, pop the model cover and look for the make, it should be stamped somewhere on the casing and then it's easier to find exact wiring diagrams.

That makes sense, a faulty relay or a single control wiring issue is often a common problem. It's definitely a good idea to check the model and wiring diagrams to get to the root of the issue for a proper fix
